Kale

Yesterday I was at my favorite hangout spot on the web,  http://blendedrecipes.com , and I decided to give Kale a try in my smoothies. I tried Spinach a couple weeks ago and discovered that you can't taste it at all! My favorite spinach smoothie is with bananas and peanut butter.  Anyway, I tried their Recycled Air Remedy Smoothie. Turned out really good! I didn't even notice the Kale in it. I think what stood out to me the most was the pineapple. I gathered all my smoothie ingredients last night. I chopped them all up and separated them into 1 cup increments ( I have 10 cups of Kale !). Then I started putting together my smoothie mixed in plastic freezable Tupperware. I put little labels on the outside telling me what liquids to add, (ex: add 1 cup of water).  This morning I got up grabbed 1 container, dropped it in the blender, added my water and voila! Super quick and easy breakfast in a cup and on the go. Try pre-making your smoothies and freezing them

Noom Review

Awhile back I posted something about downloading this new app called Noom . It was recommended by Dr. Oz, so I thought I would give it a try. Here's my review : The good: I love this app because it gives you great daily education into your health. Each day you have new tasks. These tasks usually come in the form of these quick and easy little articles to read. They give you great insight on what is bad for you, whats good and why. Then at the end of reading the article it challenges you to do something related to what you just read. For example: One day my article was about making my plate more colorful. It talked about all the great benefits of the orange and green veggies and the blue and purple fruits, ect. Then I clicked on the "colors" that I had ate that day. Another cool feature of this app is that it is also a pedometer . All you have to do is carry it with you. In a pocket or even your purse throughout the day and it will track how many steps you have ta

My favorite diet-tracker app.

Lose It! - I love this app. Not only because its a super cool phone app but it also have a Google Chrome widget. This makes for super easy logging all the time. -They have a large food database so I know whatever I'm eatting will be in there. And if by chance it's not- then its incredibly easy to create a new food. This tracks not only my intake calories but also what I burn with my excersizes. -It keeps track of my weight loss goals in a nice little chart. -I can connect and share with friends as much or as little as I want. - I can join specific groups and challenges. These are great. For example my last challenge was a fruits and veggies one. I got points for each fruit and veggie that I logged and I ended up coming in 3rd place at the end of the challenge- yay me! - you get badges. ok these are a little corny but hey everyone likes to get a sticker that says "well done!" -Reports- these are my favorite part. I can track the percentage of my carbs vs. protei

Spinach- 11 health benefits

Here is a great article I found from HealthDiaries.com: Diet  One cup of spinach has nearly 20% of the RDA of dietary fiber, which aids in digestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating. Cancer  Flavonoids -- a phytonutrient with anti-cancer properties abundant in spinach -- have been shown to slow down cell division in human stomach and skin cancer cells. Furthermore, spinach has shown significant protection against the occurrence of aggressive prostate cancer. Anti-Inflammatory Neoxanthin and violaxanthin are two anti-inflammatory epoxyxanthophylls that play an important role in regulation of inflammation and are present in unusual amounts in spinach. Antioxidants The vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, manganese, zinc and selenium present in spinach all serve as powerful antioxidants that combat the onset of osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and high blood pressure. Portion control- no measuring

This is great advice I found on one of my fav websites. I follow them on Google +.  +LIVESTRONG.COM Portion Control is in Your Hands Don’t want to measure everything? All it takes is one hand to make sure you are eating the correct portions. When planning or creating any meal, portion out a palm-size amount of meat, tofu, or other protein, at least two handfuls of vegetables, no more than one handful of fruit, and a thumb-sized portion of fats.

Spinach- it's cute, love it!

ReBlog- Pears

I found this post while browsing through my google + feed. If you are not already following me on Google + then add me HERE ... Hint Hint It's a great way to be notified when I add a new post! Pears Benefits:  Pears contain a lot of fibre, which is essential for a healthy digestive system. When you eat a pear, your body absorbs glucose, which is converted into energy. Eating a pear can be a great pick-me-up if you feel sluggish in the afternoon.  Pears are low in calories, low in fat and can be purchased from any supermarket. Contains:  fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K. Best eaten :  Fresh or mixed into other fruits to make a tasty and refreshing fruit salad

Falling off the wagon

I'm sure we have all done it. Even the most healthy person has had these moments. I firmly believe in giving yourself "treats" and "cheat days"... If not you will drive yourself nuts. I don't ever want to feel so restricted that I'm unhappy.  However... This weekend I went all-out all 3 days. I won't go into details but lets just say at one point I ate so much that I was trying to stretch my body out to make more room for my lungs to expand. I went into a "cheesecake coma". I over-indulged on multiple occasions- and this morning on the scale it showed. As I have posted before... It's ok... there is hope. With each day there is renewal and forgiveness. I forgive myself and I'm ready to move on. I have the courage to get up and continue on my healthy path.

Do this every morning and feel awake and refreshed!

omg I love this website!!!

If you are a regular follower of mine you already know how much I LOVE smoothies! Recently I downloaded a new app called "Noom"- It was recommended by Dr. Oz so I thought I would check it out. While reading through the forums I noticed that a noom-er had recommended a website to another noom-er looking for smoothie recipes. So I went and checked it out for myself and Oh Wow! Not only do they have a ton of smoothie and juice recipes but they have a super cute theme! When you find one that you want to try you click on it and a video is displayed to show you exactly how to create your smoothie. Below the video is a "yummy meter" where you can vote on the taste. My favorite part is the super cute 1950's style kitchen and aprons! The recipe finder section is great! All you do is click on the ingredients that you have in your kitchen- and it will find a smoothie for you... It's great. I definitely recommend you check this website out for yours
