Things your coach wants you to work on for tryouts

As a cheerleading coach I get so much joy and excitement at the beginning of the year. There is a rush of emotions that comes with all the preparation and planning of training up a new squad. As the year progresses you learn everyone's strengths and weaknesses. You watch the kids interact with each other, with the players, with the crowd and with you. I personally fall in love with these girls more and more with every practice and every game we have. By the end of the season I am so sad and lost that it is all over. Now that we are in the "off season" I am counting down the days until tryouts. I am planning out my practices, finding new workouts, researching new uniforms and doing price comparisons on camps. I try to keep myself busy now so I can focus on the girls later. While I am always thinking about all things cheer I wonder ... What are my girls doing in their free time? It makes me happy to see pictures on their social media of them hanging out together, visit...

Advocare Success Story: Emily Facklam

It was the beginning of a new year and I was searching for an answer to my weight problem.  I was the heaviest I had ever been, and having a career in the beauty industry I had always felt the internal drive to get my weight under control, but found my habits were stronger than my motivation.  I needed a game changer in my life to help me put my plan into action.  When I became Zach and Heather Vogel’s nanny for their two young boys, I saw their energy and drive and began asking questions about how I could begin making some changes in my life.  I began with the 24-Day Challenge™ and dropped 10 pounds and 12 unwanted inches.* I regained energy and confidence in myself and had faith that this was a system that I could really stick with.* My purpose then became stronger than any fears I had amassed over the years and upon finishing my first 24 days, I have continued on my AdvoCare regimen and began exercising regularly.  I began introducing the Performance Elite ...

Advocare Success Story: Jared Thomas

My AdvoCare Journey began July 23, 2013 because of my son. He was born in September 2001 and he was perfect. I had all the dreams that a father has when he finds out he’s having a boy. We were going to play catch, basketball and wrestle around and he was going to be my best bud. Life as weall know sometimes takes us in unknown directions, and I found myself spending much of his early childhood working and going to nursing school to be able to support my family. I traded an active lifestyle and those dreams, for the sedentary life of a student. Very soon I was overweight and unhappy, and I had no time to spend with my son. We all know that children spell love as TIME. In 2012 I graduated with my Nurse Practitioner degree and got a job in the healthcare field. I now had time to do things with my son, but I was 360 pounds. I had no energy and was a broken man physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In July of 2013 I was introduced to AdvoCare and took a chance on the 24-Day Challen...

Update on me

My schedule is a bit crazy- when isn't it. That's the way I like my life. I seem to get restless when I have too many nights at home doing nothing. I like to have side projects/ businesses/ events, etc etc. I was studying to get my Certified Personal Trainers certificate from NASM . I was in a 9 week program to study, take the exam and start training. It was an exciting thing for me!! I still am excited about it but I needed to take a little break to focus on coaching my cheerleaders. That 9 weeks I started... it's been a few months back. In case you missed it- I am also a middle school cheerleader coach. I love coaching these girls so much. I truly have fallen in love with them. However basketball season has been crazy. Games 2 nights a week and practice 1 day. I also take my daughters to dance 1 day that leaves 1 week-day at home to get anything done! I needed to make a decision to follow my career in fitness or to follow my career in coaching? I decided to...

weigh yourself daily

I weight myself almost daily! I wake up- go potty and immediately step on the scale. (before I eat or drink anything) A lot of weight loss and fitness people in the world will tell you this is a very bad idea. That you shouldn't stress over the numbers on the scale. That it should be more about how your clothes fit and how healthy you feel. I totally agree that those aspects are important. However, I also believe that the scale is a very good calculator for how your diet is going. For Example: When I have a "bad food"  day and eat much more than I should have, it shows on the scale the next morning. This puts me in check and makes me realize that " today is going to be better !" When I have a good day - nutritionally- and I step on the scale the next morning and I either see no change, or a reduction in weight then I am happy. No gain is good gain for me. Everyone's goals are different. Maybe you want to gain, maybe you want to maintain, maybe you ...
